RE: [OS:N:] RE: N:] Open Source as a form of Anarcho-Communism?

Hi all,

There are some really interesting thoughts flying around, this is a good
exchange of ideas. I too suspect the anarcho-communist theory may be
flawed, but there is no harm is examining the similarities in behaviour and
philosophy. The Internet harbours many communities, which operate in
different ways to those in real life, due to the nature of the technology.
New ideologies may be created, a new ethos for people actively involved in
cyber communities, it may effect the 'real world' to some extent?

It's worth looking at, very interesting stuff.

What if we include other elements of the 'gift economy theory' into the
argument? Piraters and traders of digital information. I'm not associating
open sourcers with piracy in any way. just wondering if people think that
individuals swapping files online diregards copyright in a different way -
people think that because they are online they should have the ability to
freely manipulate/transfer other people's intellectual property. Those
individuals most likely acept the existence of copyright and intellectual
property, but actively disregard it when online.

I know it's slightly off the OS/FW topic, but any thoughts on that as well?

Cheers,
Paul
