To be fair, David, we're trying to respond to your email this morning as
best as we can. I know that at least three Red Hatters (Todd, Jeremy,
and myself) are trying to get some answers for you about the current
purchase order policy.
As Todd said, our sales organization is much more accustomed to dealing
with larger orders. Imagine talking to companies the size of Amazon and
Morgan Stanley all day who might be wanting to roll out 3000 machines
and then you get a call from someone wanting to set up a small computer
lab for a school. The needs of these two kinds of customers are very
different and right now our sales team is geared toward those larger
customers.
But we hear what you're saying and we're getting more and more interest
from the education community. I'd like to thing that the OSN list has
had some positive effect in bringing Linux into education. So we're
working on getting a program together that addresses the needs of the
education market. Hopefully, your email this morning was the kick in
the pants that the marketing team needed to get this program ready to go
soon. I have confidence that they'll come through.
Cheers,
Brent
